El niño protagonista de esta historia se lamenta porque ha de pasar unas vacaciones con su abuelo.¿Qué tiene él en común con un anciano? Su primer día juntos, el abuelo le propone hacer un pastel de manzana. Para ello deberán reunir todos los ingredientes necesarios y, sobre todo, tener paciencia. Gracias a su abuelo el niño descubrirá que, a pesar de lo que creía, lo más importante de hacer un pastel de manzana no es comerlo, lo fundamental es hacerlo.
