In 1507, cartographer Martin Waldseemller published a map of the world, he called Amrica a new continent, discovered earlier by America Vespucio and in honor of his name. The name made fortune and years later he extended to the northern hemisphere, although, does not belong to Vespucio and Waldsemller himself thought he was wrong picking up the name.
