This well-illustrated Spanish-language book retraces the development and magnificent flowering of Mayan architecture in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize over the period 300 B.C.-A.D. 1500, showing the extraordinary synchronicity of this architecture with that of other Old World societies. Featured cities include Tikal, the earliest Mayan religious center; Palenque, famous for its ceremonial center; and Copan, with its hieroglyphic staircase featuring 2,500 glyphs.

This series is the best reference available for information on today's leading architects, and presents their work in an affordable and thoroughly illustrated format. Each book begins with an overview of the architect's style and accomplishments written by a leading architecture critic. Then, approximately twenty noteworthy works and projects are discussed by the architect and presented in detail with site plans, drawings, and black-and-white photographs.

The present research work is based on original manuscripts and testimonies from architect González Gortázar (b. Mexico) regarding his transcendent architecture and urban designs. González Gortázar is considered at present one of the most important architects of México, creator of spaces and urban art that are now geometric symbols and references of the city of Guadalajara in México. The architect strongly practices the concept of "Space and Art" and where the city should never loose their social function for which it was originally conceived and constructed.
