Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) fue reconocido a una edad muy temprana como el principal artista de España y fue mejorando hasta convertirse en el retratista oficial de la Corte. Su fama se basaba en la calidad y velocidad con las que ejecutaba sus dibujos, y sus grabados poseen una delicadeza extraordinaria. El uso del claroscuro en sus Pinturas negras influenció a numerosos artistas, entre ellos Manet. Esta monografía presenta las obras fundamentales del artista, considerado hoy el padre del arte moderno.

Judging from his reaction, it seemed that the question had touched on a sensitive spot. By the same token, their peace is not the submissive condition to which modern man has been reduced; rather, it is an imperturbable state of internal silence and discipline.

Presents essays that analyze the art teachings in Mexico City from the 18th to 20th century, particularly in 4 prestigious institutions: the Academia de San Carlos, the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria (now the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildelfonso), the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes and the Secretaría de Educación Pública. The outcome is the present anthological volume.
