Al tomar dos historias biblicas sumamente familiares, una del Antiguo Testamento y la otra del Nuevo Testamento, esta obra permite que los ninos puedan ver como las figuras, o tipos, biblicos emergen de las paginas de las sagradas escrituras para, de esta manera, configurar lo que los teologos llaman la topologia biblica. La topologia biblica se refiere al estudio de los personajes, sucesos u objetos biblicos en el Viejo Testamento que preconfiguran o constituyen la "sombra" de otros personajes o eventos de la nueva alianza, y de lo que ha de venir en el Nuevo Testamento. La Biblia esta repleta de estos fascinantes "tipos." Ahora, gracias a esta obra, los ninos pueden comenzar a explorar, y descubrir, las diversas similitudes y tipos biblicos, y, de esta manera, comprender, a una muy temprana edad, a que se referia san Agustin cuando dijo que El Nuevo Testamento esta oculto en el Antiguo y el Antiguo nos es abierto en el Nuevo. Esta obra esta recomendada para ninos de 3 anos para arriba. Maura Roan McKeegan obtuvo su licenciatura en educacion primaria, paso cinco anos ensenando a ninos de primaria y de nivel intermedio, y posteriormente obtuvo titulos de posgrado en teologia y educacion. Mientras estudiaba teologia en la universidad Franciscana de Steubenville, Ohio, en EE.UU. (Franciscan University of Steubenville) ella se sintio inspirada para escribir libros para ninos acerca de aquellos conceptos teologicos que mas la intrigan y fascinan. Ella no duda en afirmar que "los ninos tienen una sensitividad y una receptividad muy especial hacia la obra del Espiritu Santo," y que "dado el grado de pureza de sus corazones, ellos tienen la capacidad innata de comprender las Sagradas Escrituras con gran profundidad." El filo de la Espada Ardiente, el primer libro en una serie de libros sobre topologia biblica infantil, fue publicado por la editorial estadounidense Emmaus Road Publishing en el otono de 2014, en una primera edicion, a todo color, que cuenta con las magnificas ilustraciones del talentoso y muy dotado ilustrador norteamericano Theodore Schluenderfritz."
