Inventory of architectural patrimony and popular culture in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. The first part is devoted to architecture and monuments from Pre-Columbian , colonial, 19th and 20th century, with emphasis on Pre-Columbian cultures. Includes mural art and some information on archival holdings. The second half is devoted to folkart, crafts, local culinary history, folklore, fiestas at the village, town, city and state levels.

This well-illustrated Spanish-language book retraces the development and magnificent flowering of Mayan architecture in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize over the period 300 B.C.-A.D. 1500, showing the extraordinary synchronicity of this architecture with that of other Old World societies. Featured cities include Tikal, the earliest Mayan religious center; Palenque, famous for its ceremonial center; and Copan, with its hieroglyphic staircase featuring 2,500 glyphs.

El presente libro es producto de tres cursos de capacitación impartidos por el autor al personal de Secretaría de Obras y Servicios de la Ciudad de México, a través de la División de Educación Continua y a Distancia de la Facultad de Ingeniería, con sede en el Palacio de Minería perteneciente a la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
