Este libro, elaborado por tres experimentados investigadores sociales, se ocupa de relatar, en forma breve y didáctica, la historia de cada una de estas tres revoluciones, pero también de valorarlas desde la perspectiva de la historia comparada, poniendo de relieve semejanzas, diferencias, significados y peculiaridades. La inmensa mayoría de las obras existentes trata solo de una de ellas en particular, pasando por alto las conexiones entre estos procesos, así como las claves para comprender sus verdaderas dinámicas y su persistencia en el imaginario de los pueblos latinoamericanos.
