Vos, tu, usted, vuestra merced son unos cuantos indicadores de la variedad de sistemas de tratamiento en espanol, junto con todo tipo de apodos, hipocoristicos, titulos y demas formulas nominales que, en su conjunto, se estudian desde diversas dimensiones en este amplio volumen. Participan en el cuarenta y dos autores de Europa y America para dar cuenta de los usos y sistemas de trato del espanol, segun determinaciones historicas, geograficas, estilisticas, comunicativas, pero, sobre todo, de identificacion y reconocimiento de los interlocutores en cada relacion social.
