Escritor y diplomático mexicano. Dedicó a partir de la juventud buena parte de su vida al periodismo, primero en Guadalajara y luego en la ciudad de México, y desempeñó altos cargos diplomáticos durante el gobierno de Porfirio Díaz, en el que ejerció como Subsecretario de Relaciones Exteriores y, más adelante, como ministro plenipotenciario en Guatemala. Hombre de inquietudes intelectuales, ocupó un puesto destacado en los foros culturales de México y trató los asuntos más variados. Dejó escritas algunas obras en el terreno de la filología.
