This comprehensive and extremely well researched study documents the history and evolution throughout political and social changes of the former art academy of San Carlos (now the National School of Fine Arts) form its foundation in 1781 to the early 20th century when the academy was integrated to the National Autonomous University of Mexico, (UNAM).
