Nuevas aportaciones al estudio del caló

Resumen del Libro

Los tres artículos que componen este libro dan testimonio de la influencia mutua que, a lo largo de siglos de contacto, se ha generado entre el español y el caló. En primer lugar, el estudio de los numerosos préstamos del caló en el léxico marginal español nos sirve para entender la posterior presencia de algunos de estos préstamos del caló en el español coloquial. En segundo lugar, el caló hablado por los gitanos palentinos demuestra que el caló, todavía vigente en algunas comunidades gitanas españolas, ayuda a potenciar la cohesión étnica del grupo que lo usa a la vez que sirve como forma de comunicación secreta. Por último, razones de contacto entre lenguas han propiciado que el caló de los gitanos portugueses haya recibido gran cantidad de préstamos léxicos del español y del portugués.
