"Este libro es el resultado de un trabajo de investigación llevado a cabo desde la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Manizales, orientado a identificar las características formales y constructivas de las estructuras laminares [membranas y plegaduras] diseñadas y edificadas en Colombia durante un período de veinticinco años contados a partir de 1945, por profesionales nacionales que conocían bien lo que por entonces ocurría en el contexto de la arquitectura internacional y de manera particular en el campo de los sistemas estructurales destinados a cubrir grandes superficies con láminas de hormigón armado de mínimo espesor y bajo peso propio."
