The Beatitudes – these “eight madness of Christ”, as someone has called them – are the constitution and the vital mark of Christianity. Poverty, suffering, oppression, neediness, mercy, truthfulness, peace and persecution are the compasses that help us find our North, which is the Father, and it gives us the necessary information to direct our steps and our heart towards him who is our source and destiny.
