A partir de un trama muy original, un humor sorprendente y un extraordinario ingenio verbal, la pieza parece anticipar alguna de las características del teatro del absurdo que se impondría en toda Europa a mediados de la centuria. Las anotaciones aclaran los juegos lingüísticos, los destellos de ingenio y las referencias a sucesos de actualidad que Miguel Mihura integró genialmente en la que puede considerarse una de las mejores creaciones teatrales españolas de todo el siglo XX.
