Este texto es un relato anónimo del siglo V, o principios del VI, redactado en latín en el que se narran las separaciones, peripecias y sufrimientos que han de afrontar Apolonio y su familia hasta el reencuentro que finalmente los une otra vez. La historia, mezcla de elementos paganos y cristianos, está a medio camino entre la novela y el cuento popular.
