¿Qué quiero con este libro? Rápidamente pongo las cartas sobre la mesa.Me interesa convencer a los lectores acerca de la grandeza del cristianismo. Quiero comunicar al Cristo que ha inspirado cada una de las columnas de que consta esta publicación. Cristo y el cristianismo no son lo mismo. En el cristianismo hay de todo. En su larga historia se cuentan muchas equivocaciones. Se han llamado cristianos personajes que mejor olvidar. Cristo mismo es el criterio que nos permite juzgar la historia, y la historia de la Iglesia, y decir aquí sí, aquí no, ha actuado Dios. Pero el cristianismo, gracias a Cristo, ha dotado al mundo de humanidad. No sabemos qué sería de la historia humana si se extirpara de ella lo que los cristianos han hecho en su favor. Al menos habría que decir que han procurado hermanar a hombres y mujeres por su fe en el Dios que Jesús llamó Padre. He escrito este libro por si a alguien fuera a interesarle, en esta época de desconcierto cultural creciente, una tradición extraordinaria de humanidad que le sirva precisamente para interpretar lo que nos está pasando y trabajar por una globalización de la fraternidad.
