Las representaciones gráficas constituyen una herramienta esencial en el tratamiento y análisis de la información dentro de las Ciencias Sociales. Especialmente en aquellos aspectos vinculados con la investigación empírica. Este texto introduce al lector en el conocimiento de todos aquellos elementos y procedimientos que constituyen la base de la transformación de datos en imágenes. En ese proceso por el cual se desea destacar alguna relación particular, debe respetarse la estructura presente en los datos. Por ello, tanto el productor de gráficos como el consumidor, necesita una formación que le proporcione capacidad crítica ante aquello que se presenta como evidencia.
